The Spiritual Balance: Yokai & Mortals by Tetsuro Wulf
Tetsuro Wulf’s Spiritual Balance: Yokai & Mortals is a reflective spiritual guide centered on harmony between mortals, spirits, yokai, and the unseen forces that connect them. Written from the perspective of a priest, the book explores inner spiritual practices such as chakra alignment, Zen, and mindfulness before expanding into the wider philosophy of coexistence in the Far East. It introduces readers to animism, the nature of kami, and the distinctions between yokai, framing them as complex presences shaped by memory, imbalance, duty, and the natural world. Throughout, Tetsuro argues that balance is not the absence of conflict, but the active work of understanding, honoring, and restoring harmony across realms. The book ultimately serves as both a spiritual teaching text and a call to compassion, encouraging readers to see spirits and yokai not as invaders, but as neighbors worthy of recognition, care, and respectful boundaries.
P.S. <3 by H. Grail
A telling of a life through photographs of notes written on various types of paper, from bar napkins of a sleazy venue, to scribbled on the pages of an academic tome, to graffiti on an outdoor wall, to a love letter unsent. All are moments of the life within; happy, sad, loving, heartbreak, joy, achievements, and ending on a high note of happiness found. At the end, through a photograph taken of lipstick on a bathroom mirror, the author reveals that the book was an autobiography all along.
You Asked For a Swordsman by Arielle C. Alvoix
A brief 'survival guide' of sorts, marketed towards female readers in Eorzea and beyond who have an interest in becoming a mercenary or, if they are already working as one, learning how to improve their performance and reputation, as well as enduring the stereotypes and ridicule that come with it. The book is divided in twelve sections, each addressing scenarios that women will possibly (or definitely) encounter during their time in the sellsword industry, including (but not limited to) promotion to leadership, having to use charisma and charm to assist on a job, the long-term physical and mental 'wear and tear' on the body, as well as a variety of methods in leaving the career should they find their mercenary guild more attached to her than she thought.
Aetheric Mutations: A Treatise on the Evolution, Prevalence, and Motivations of Whisperworms by Darcy Dumas
A very dry academic tome that explores the idea that the pesky whisperworms that plague Ishgard’s water supply have mutated into something far more nefarious than a simple parasite thanks to aetheric corruption. Are they nothing more than madness inducing worms or are they out to infiltrate and control the House of Lords? Darcy Dumas, author of The Guiding Light is here to help you answer those questions.A Vampiric History of Ishgard: Volume I by Darcy Dumas
This rather unique history book explores the genealogy of four lesser noble houses, arguing that each house has been ruled by the same undead creature for centuries and that the act of passing title from father to son has been nothing more than a ruse. Volume I focuses on Houses Droste, Fierlaine, Lovelace, and Archambeau. The author promises a second and third volume in the future, should this first not satiate your vampiric curiosity.
Nymian Politics: Power Structures in Play During the War of the Magi by Orion Arianelle
A restructuring of the author’s Archon Mark dissertation, Nymian Politics dissects the power struggles between Nym, Mhach, and Amdapor at the peak of the Fifth Astral Era and the Mar of the Magi. Written using all the research and knowledge available in Sharlayan before the Calamity, it looks largely at the mysterious state of Nym and its targeted status alongside Amdapor as the only standouts against the power of Mhach. It outlines everything then known about the inner workings of its political structures, comparing and contrasting them with the other two city-states. It also speculates about the War and its primary goals, and puts that into perspective with the author’s own opinions about the end state of the War and the Sixth Umbral Calamity.Nymian Discovery: The Secrets of the Floating Ruins by Orion Arianelle
A recounting of the revolutionary discoveries about the City of Nym and its inhabitants uncovered since the Calamity and the start of the Seventh Astral Era. Written by an archaeologist and dig lead in the Bronze Lake area, this book details many of the items and areas of interest discovered in the Floating City of Nym, along with stories of discovery. It even includes a second-hand account of the involvement of the renowned Warrior of Light at the site and their impact on recent Nymian study. A fascinating look at a growing area of research in the field of historical archaeology.

The Realm Lost in Shadow by K.M.
A Treatise on Voidsent and the Case for Their Humanity | 'This essay is an attempt at recounting the tale of the realm known as the Void. It tells of their history before it's corruption, the plight of the peoples therein, as well as documented interviews with various voidsent themselves of different backgrounds in order to further support the author's stance. The Void was once a realm full of life, love, and countless dreams that has been subsumed by darkness. The author endeavors to show that this realm does not warrant the visceral enmity it receives from the larger population of our world and that instead, understanding and perhaps even peace can be made between them.'
Umbral Soul by K.M.
A series of portraits and short stories from various voidsent encounters. Each story is told without embellishment, yet with the person's identity preserved. Portraits are included with explicit consent of the sources. This book is a follow up on the author's previous work, The Realm Lost in Shadow. It is naught more than a retelling of memories and experiences, all dutifully recorded. Some tales may be more difficult to read than others. Caution on the part of the reader is advised.
Aetheric Cooking Vol.1 by K.M.
A book of recipes with accompanying hand-drawn images of them. The recipes are meant to aid those who are unable to easily regenerate their own aether through normal means. One may also utilize aether in varying amounts to add an extra layer of culinary delight to your cooking.
Covenants of the Dying by Thassalus Colchis
Attributed to Thassalus Colchis during his years serving within the ossuaries of Ul'dah under the alias Banu Anahita.A nonfiction that examines the theological and arcane covenants formed between mortals and entities that dwell beyond the veil of death. It draws from forbidden Mhachi knowledge, voidsent testimonies extracted through blood-rites, and translated temple records predating the Sixth Umbral Calamity. Thassalus argues that death is not an ending, but a contractual threshold. The dying soul, according to his argument, emits a form of aetheric vulnerability through which gods, voidsent, and other extranormal intelligences may bargain. The text categorizes these “covenants” into thirteen known forms, ranging from benign ancestral pacts to parasitic occupations mistaken for sainthood. Of particular controversy is the author’s insistence that primals themselves are merely refined manifestations of covenantal hunger; gods shaped not by divinity, but by collective desperation and sacrifice.Though publicly denounced by the Order of Nald’thal, copies continue to circulate among thaumaturges, reapers, and forbidden circles within Sharlayan under heavily censored editions.
Mandates on Mortality by Banu Anahita
Written under the alias Banu Anahita and distributed widely among merchants and mortuary officials in Ul'dah before later revisions were banned.A philosophical treatise concerning the balance of life, death, labor, and commerce beneath the judgment of Nald’thal. Banu argues that mortality itself is the foundation upon which civilization acquires meaning. The work controversially reframes capitalism not as greed, but as an extension of sacred funerary balance. Coin changes hands as blood changes bodies; circulation is holiness. Stagnation, whether of wealth, memory, or aether, is described as a form of spiritual rot akin to necromancy.Entire chapters are dedicated to the ethics of resurrection magicks, inheritance law, and the monetization of death rites within Ul'dahn society. Critics accused the book of justifying exploitation through theology, while supporters praised it as one of the few coherent attempts to reconcile thaumaturgy, commerce, and divine law in the modern age.Its final chapter, "On the Value of a Soul Unspent", ends abruptly mid-sentence in all surviving copies.
Names of the Undying by Thassalus Colchis
An unfinished lexicon compiled by Thassalus Colchis documenting entities believed to persist beyond proper death.Part historical record, part invocation manual, the text catalogs saints who would not decay, kings buried without aetherial dissolution, voidsent capable of retaining identity after destruction, and unnamed beings discovered through portal experimentation beneath ancient ruins in Ilsabard and the South Sea isles. Each entry includes known titles, manifestations, favored sacrifices, associated symbols, and “threshold conditions” under which contact becomes possible.Modern scholars debate whether these refer to actual entities or the progressive deterioration of the author’s mind.
Mastery of Curses by Thassalus Colchis
A Treatise of Orders of Gods by Banu Anahita
Published publicly under the name Banu Anahita. It was later condemned by multiple religious authorities. The work repeatedly challenges the distinction between primals and legitimate deities, suggesting that mortals invented the separation merely to justify which powers society permits itself to worship.Particularly inflammatory are the chapters concerning Nald’thal. Banu argues the Traders and the Order misunderstood their own patron; that Nald’thal does not preside over wealth because commerce is virtuous, but because all existence operates through exchange. Life purchases death. Empires purchase survival through blood. Even the gods themselves are beholden to transaction.Though condemned by several religious authorities, the treatise continued to circulate among Sharlayan scholars and forbidden circles for its meticulous study of ancient cults, summoning practices, and the transactional nature of faith itself.
Poetry
Fallen into Night - Poem Collection One by K. Martakh
I. Ikigai | Dawn
• A Collection of fifty traditional poems and haikus about the beginnings of life, when the sun first begins to kiss the sky after spending all night warming the moon and helping it shine. To greet the day, to chase after the spectrum of colors, seize the moment, and savor every golden hue. It speaks of letting go of the day before, but not forgetting the lessons it taught you. There are five in this volume about silly subjects meant to invoke laughter, such as a dog chasing the sun and a child who attempts to trap the sun, etc.II. Ikigai | Noon
• A collection sixty poems & short stories. Less Haikus, but it seems to be when everything is at its brightest. There are skills to learn and places to be. People to meet and have met. A few clouds threaten to take over the borders on a few pages. Small and gray, almost with a sheen to them as if slightly metallic. Tales of impatience and waiting for the night to settle in when the stars shine and darkness looks so glamourous...However, there are things to be done while the sun is high.III. Ikigai | Afternoon
• A shorter volume with only thirty poems that seem to flow talking about sweet drinks and even sweeter kisses. Appreciation for the incoming night, sweet dreams, and sealed deals..However, the poems seem to take a sudden turn in tone..The last one seems unfinished and there's a purposeful LARGE splotch on the last page...And a few drips..The last verse leaves the reader completely confused.IV. Ikigai | Storm
• The second shortest volume in the series that details possibly fictional characters that are missing limbs, left to die completely at random and by surprise. When the the lightning strikes...There's another body and a sick smile. The script is almost illegible in spots, but can be read in just the right light or some say. There seems to a new writer? Or is the old one changing? Has their life taken a dark turn? There is a weight on their shoulders and the day seems like it's never coming..V. Ikigai | Consumed
• The shortest volume as it's a collection of haikus. The entire volume is just dark and broody. There seems to be disjointed thoughts and almost two people battling to let their voice be heard. One is a cry for help, the other seeks to snuff it out, and an innocent pays the price. A few pages have red lining their edges...What was once bright and promising is now shrouded in darkness and blood? Something is hungry and everyone is a target.Editions: Originally in Hingan, later translated to Common, and then recently translated to Ishgardian.
